Parent Visa (Subclass 103)
The Parent Visa (Subclass 103) is intended for parents who have a child or children living permanently in Australia. Eligible sponsors must be either Australian citizens, permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens who meet the residency requirements.
It’s important to note that this visa comes with a significantly long waiting period—currently estimated to be around 30 years before processing is completed.
What is the balance of family test?
To satisfy the balance of family test, at least half of your children must be settled in Australia on a permanent basis. This requirement includes biological children, as well as step-children and adopted children. The test ensures that the majority of your immediate family is residing in Australia.
Are 103 visa applicants granted bridging visas?
No. If you apply for this visa while you are in Australia, a bridging visa will not be issued. You must maintain a valid visa throughout the processing period or be outside Australia when applying.
